The Shelf

A space-saving book exchange for homes, offices, schools, and third places.

The Problem

Most Nigerian homes, offices, and public spaces have no mechanism for curated book circulation. Books are purchased, read once if at all, and shelved indefinitely. Knowledge doesn't move. The infrastructure for sharing it — physically, between people who are already in the same space — doesn't exist.

Who It's For

Schools that want to build a reading culture without a large library budget. Progressive offices that want to signal intellectual engagement. Cafés and third places that want to offer something beyond coffee. Design-conscious homeowners who want their spaces to do more than look good.

What's Holding It Back

Needs a manufacturing partner who can produce a modular, affordable shelf unit at scale. Also needs a pilot institution — a school, office, or café — willing to run the first exchange program and report back on what works.
